Bill Hadley—Descendant of Samuel Hadley and Director of Public Works
My first reaction to Bill Hadley was noticing his firm handshake. This was a handshake that told me that there was manual labor in his background. Sure enough, Bill, who now runs the Lexington Department of Public Works, started there out of college as a laborer. He worked his way up, and I’d be willing to bet he’s a really hands-on boss. Photographed at the Obelisk, where his ancestor Samuel Hadley is buried as one of the first Revolutionary War causalities, this photo brings together two noble men who share the same last name.
